The duration of the seasons in Russia can change a lot
In Moscow, the date of transition of the average daily temperature to negative indicators has already shifted by 7-10 days, and spring comes earlier by 5-7 days compared to the middle of the last century
/NOVOSTIVL/ The duration of the seasons may change significantly in Russia in the coming years due to global warming: winter will be shorter, and spring will be longer. This was reported by TASS scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Wilfand.
"The number of days with an average daily temperature below zero decreases, that is, the winter period decreases. In each region, it is different: somewhere even for a little more than 10 days. Winter is shrinking, and the warm period is increasing, " Wilfand said.
In particular, in Moscow, the date of transition of the average daily temperature to negative indicators has shifted by 7-10 days, and spring, on the contrary, comes earlier by 5-7 days already compared to the middle of the last century. "Autumn and spring - these seasons will always be. It is clear that both winter and summer will be, but the duration of the warm and cold period is changing and will change, " the meteorologist explained.
He also noted that the current rate of global warming is particularly high. The reason for this is the anthropogenic factor. "in january, the temperature was 2 degrees higher in the last 30 years. this is an incredible warming, colossal, which has never been before in history, " said wilfand.
