/NOVOSTIVL/ Canada's national ice hockey team defeated Russia 5-0 in the semifinals of the World Youth Championship. The tournament is held in Edmonton, Canada.

Goals were scored by Alex Newhook (1st minute), Connor McMichael (11), Cole Perfetti (16), Brayden Schneider (25), Dylan Cousins (59), who scored in an empty net.

The goal of the Russian national team striker Mikhail Abramov at the end of the second period was canceled due to offside after watching a video replay. Two and a half minutes later, the goalkeeper of the Russian team, Yaroslav Askarov, deflected a shootout executed by Kozens.

In the final, the Canadian team will play the winner of the match between the US and Finland, which will be held on Tuesday at 05: 30 Moscow time. The loser of the match for the third place will meet with the Russian team.

The final of the World Youth Championship will be held on January 6.
