The Russian Foreign Ministry allowed multiple use of a visa to enter Russia
A short-term e-visa was supposed to start operating in Russia from January 1, 2021
/NOVOSTIVL/ An electronic visa to enter Russia can become multiple-entry. This was announced on February 2 by Ivan Volynkin, Director of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“We do not exclude that an electronic visa may become multiple-entry in the future. At the same time, such a decision should be made on the basis of an analysis of the accumulated experience and taking into account all factors, including migration danger, ”RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
A short-term e-visa in Russia was supposed to start operating on January 1 of this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, their registration was suspended until further notice from the Russian government. Citizens of 52 states, in particular China, Japan, India and Turkey, will be able to enter the Russian Federation on this visa.
“I would like to emphasize that now, on the basis of international treaties concluded with foreign states, a visa-free regime of entry to Russia is valid for citizens of another 60 foreign countries. Thus, we expect that after the removal of the restrictions on entry to Russia previously established by the Russian government, citizens of 112 states will be able to enter the Russian Federation without the need to issue a paper visa in their passport, ”Volynkin added.
Earlier, on January 29, it became known that several checkpoints in Karelia on the border with Finland will issue electronic visas to foreign citizens entering the territory of Russia.
Similar pilot projects have been launched in Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
